Nash Fan Production Updates
22, August: AirFlow Pulleys The replacement pulleys are ready to ship. A confirmation email will be sent, along with the tracking number. . 02, July: AirFlow Pulleys The replacement run of pulleys are in the anodize process. Unfortunately, it is doubtful that there is sufficient time to have the pulleys available for installation before the 2022 Corsa International Convention. . 07, April: AirFlow Pulleys After much working with the anodize vendor, as well as the material supplier, we have not been able to obtain a satisfactory finish on the pulleys. Further tests were done with a different batch of material and the resulting anodize was without the previous defects. A new run of AirFlow Pulleys will be made. We are about 30 days out from the new (replacement) run of pulleys.
05, March: AirFlow Pulleys We are working to resolve quality issues with the anodize of the AirFlow Pulleys. Additional information will follow shortly.
21, December The dynamic balance work is completed. Due to the holiday rush and greater potential for shipping errors, all remaining fans will be shipped after the holiday season. If you would like your fan shipped during the holiday rush, please send a note to the above address. 16, December The dynamic balance work is finished for a number of and fans. Shipping will start tomorrow . 17, November The laser engraving is completed. The fans are now in the queue for the dynamic balance work. 04, November The laser engraving is scheduled to be completed 16, November. After the laser work, the fans will be dynamically balanced. 28, October The anodize work is complete. The fans will be cleaned and packaged and then delivered to the laser engraving facility. The current estimation is two and one-half weeks for the laser work to be finished. After the laser work, the fans will be dynamically balanced. 16, October The anodize work is moving along slower than scheduled. Unfortunately, the personnel shortage has not been resolved. There are a few fans remaining to be processed and these should be completed by the end of next week. 21, September The fans were delivered to anodize facility 09, August and were scheduled for processing the following week. The processing was started a week later than scheduled. The estimated completion date is about two weeks, 04, October. As many may be aware, there is a work slow-down and subsequent bottle neck at a great number of production facilities, due to the shortage of personnel. The anodize facility has been impacted by this and is contending with a work force, less than one-half of their pre Covid levels. 03, August The machining of the fans is completed. The CNC had a failure and was out of operation for two weeks in July. After reviewing the component failure the repair technicians suggested that the feed rate be reduced by 30% as they felt, at the current feed and speeds we were running the machine, another component failure was likely. The combination of the two week down time, and the subsequent longer machining time to complete each fan, pushed forward our previously estimated completion date by thirty days. The secondary operations are being scheduled. Anodizing first, then laser engraving and balancing. Anodizing is currently estimated at three weeks. 16, June. Machining of the fans is going well and on schedule. The end of June is still looking good for the completion of the machining operations. The anodize work is scheduled as well as laser engraving, and balancing. 28, April. We expect the machining operations of the fans to completed the end of June. At that time, the secondary operations will be tasked, such as anodizing, laser engraving and then balancing. These tasks will take approximately three weeks, depending on the outside vendor's schedule.
23, February. November of last year the thoughts were, by the end of December, we would have the orders confirmed and processed. Following this, the production run would be completed by the middle of March, or thereabouts, and the first few completed fans would then ship the end of March. There were a number of 'hold-ups' on the payment part of this project. This delayed the start date. The revised timeline is for the end of May for the final fan to come off of the machine. The raw material is on-hand and the initial tasks are being done, readying the billets for loading up in the machine to start process of carving a Nash Fan out of solid block of aluminum. Once the fans have completed the machining operations, the secondary operations will be done, such as anodizing, laser engraving and balancing. |
